Meine Favoriten in Vietnam, Kambodscha, Laos & Thailand (englisch)

Things to do and places to see in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos & Thailand:

1) travel with your amazing friends Yvonne and Gosia from back home and make new friends with people from Ireland, Australia, Manchester, Germany, France, Switzerland, El Salvador, Argentina, Catalonia, Israel and New Zealand. Also get inspired by Germans at the Cambodian border who came all the way on their motorbike or plan to go to Tibet by bike. Doing a worldtrip with public transportation never felt that boring!
2) visit the Unesco world heritage site Angkor Wat in Cambodia and spend some time at the pub street at night
3) climb 1237 steps to see another sitting Buddha and get an astonishing view over Krabi, Thailand and be cautious not to stare at the monkeys
4) get used to:
a) men wearing elephant harem pants and vest tops with south East Asian beer types on it,
b) to South East Asian men singing cheesy love songs at random occasions and get used to cheesy music being played in bars and restaurants
c) to not stare at monkeys, dogs or monks (the latter shall not be touched by women and women must not sit next to them on busses),
d) to not throughing toilet paper into the toilet – do appreciate public places with actual toilets and not planks or holes
e) to massive spiders, bats and snakes falling from trees, to dogs and cats lying wherever (e.g in supermarkets on streets) and to cockroaches sitting on chairs staring at you and your food
f) to not wait for your travel buddy being served food as this may take up to 30 minutes after your own food has been served
5) find out that Apple does not only produce phones and computers but also flip flops, sun glasses, guesthouses, dresses, vests and tops
6) visit paradise/ko lanta and do a 4 islands tour on a long tail boat. Survive the island tour from ko phi phi as you re on the only long tail boat trip that was not cancelled due to bad weather and really high waves. Decide to get dry and live and not see the sunset.
7) learn about the horrible histories of Cambodia and Vietnam and visit the killing fields in Phnom Penh and the war museum in Saigon
8) get new clothes done in hoi an and avoid Thai tailors
9) sleep in the Thai jungle, shower in the nearby waterfall, eat out of massive banana leaves with bamboo chop sticks, ride an elephant, do a bamboo wild water rafting tour and celebrate the Catalan national holiday in the jungle
10) fly to Luang Prabang – one of the supposedly most beautiful cities in south east Asia – and participate in the monks ceremony at 5.30 am by giving rive, bananas and biscuits to the monks; climb the kuing si waterfall, swim at the top, take pictures and watch out not to slip when getting down; see more temples and monks and find out that monks are allowed to have phones and Facebook (?!)
11) return to party-Thailand and rave with Nicol at the full moon party in ko phangang. Recover the next days and go to an even better and less commercial party at Eden garden up on some cliffs. Eventually dance salsa at the beach in the morning
12) never leave ko tao, Thailand (I wish), learn to dive in 30m, get a diving certificate, treat yourself to a go pro hero 3 black edition camera, take amazing underwater pictures and movies, dive even more and see the most beautiful sunsets ever!
13) buy a flight, bus or boat ticket in a booking agency which electronic equipment consists of one landline phone.

And then go to Malaysia
